The most usual outer coating on Y-TONG wall is a lightweight mineral perspirable mortar consisting of two layers with a plastic net on the entire surface. This solution prevents the formation of cracks caused by the absence of glue-cement on vertical joints.

In this project we are looking for solutions from traditional architecture, greener and from local factories, so we propose to use a lime mortar in order to check its suitability applied to the cellular concrete block.

For this reason, we’ve realized 4 tests with lime mortar from Unicmall in Mallorca, which have been left exposed to sun and rain.
